I thought I was having a bad race, but it turned out to be good after all.  The course was exciting and different, and it had every kind of terrain. It had hairy down-hills, steep herringbone hills, gradual striding, steep striding, double pole, double pole kick, and tons of transitions.  I think it may have been one of the most technically varied courses that I have ever skied.  And the temperature was a perfect -13º C (about 8ºF).  In all an excellent day.  The photo at top is of Mikey Hinckley, who looked really strong striding Sunday.

Today we drove about 7 hours from Bozeman and ended up in Colville, WA.  It was a good drive, with clement driving conditions and happy van drivers.  We just had dinner at a Mexican restaurant , and since it was Anders Haugen’s birthday, he ended up in a sombrero getting serenaded by the waiters.  Happy birthday to Anders!

As a side note, SuperTour rankings came out today, and APU women are the top three.  Holly, Laura, and myself.  James Southam is 4th for the men. Full rankings can be found here, and the Fasterskier article here.

Tomorrow we finish driving to Silver Star, one of my favorite places to race!
