Canmore!  World Cup #1 (for me)

I think I am incredibly lucky this weekend, I am in beautiful Canmore (exhibit A above), I am at a World Cup (exhibit B, bottom left), and I am racing tomorrow!

I tried not to look too amateur while training today by taking photos of things that the pros see all the time, but I couldn’t help myself in the case of the TV cameras on the side of the trail. Check that out! I am going to ski race on TV tomorrow. Unbelievable. I mean, as someone pointed out to me, I get to ski in a WORLD CUP tomorrow. Some people never get to do that in their whole lives. I need to keep that in mind, and appreciate it accordingly. My goals for tomorrow are to ski the course intelligently and well, and soak up the scene.

I personally think it’s bad form to ask competitors for their autographs because you should race like you want to beat them and that might be hard when you are hero worshipping them.  However, maybe by the end of the weekend I will decide that it’s worth the embarrassment.  I think it might fall under ‘scene soaking’ as mentioned above, which is definitely a focus here at this point in my ski career.  It would also be good to have something like that to bring back to family members etc.

One last photo before I go do my training log: I thought I needed to document the hardship that skiing in Canmore presents.  I mean this just looks rough doesn’t it?
