Drawing Mountains

I wanted to share my art for the fall:  this is the only drawing of mountains that I have done all summer.  I had a post on this blog in May about erosion lines and how much I like them; how I wanted to learn to draw mountains well.  This is my first try, about four months later.  The mountain in the foreground is the northwest side of Flat top, and the pass in the back ground is Powerline Pass.  It looks like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but it’s actually a five minute walk from the Glen Alps parking lot.  I think it’s not too bad for my first try anyway.
Another thing that I wanted to share is Katie Ronsse’s blog: www.katieronsse.blogspot.com, where she has posted plans for a girls South High ‘Pre Skison Primer’ camp with rollerskiing, running, technique work, recovery discussion, etc.  I was supposed to be helping with it but I am sick now so won’t be there this afternoon.  If this camp goes well, there is potential to talk to other high school coaches and do camps for other teams.  If you are interested in having a camp at your high school as well, don’t hesitate to email me at r.rorabaugh@gmail.com.  We are just kind of testing the waters right now and seeing what kind of interest there is, but are definitely into getting out and having fun with a group of skiers.
