Classic race at u23s

The conditions for the classic race were not the bomber binder type things that were so enticing to me the day before.  The tracks were just a little messy and it was definitely snowing.  The softer tracks required skiers to feather their kick a little bit, and meant that I couldn’t rely on the good long powerful kick that is my strength.  However, I had a pretty solid day.  Nothing fancy, nothing horrible.  The course was very hard, the hills were long and the rest was pretty much nonexistent. It was a fun race though, and pretty informative.  I come here to test myself against the best in my age group, and it turns out that I sit around 20th.  Unfortunately after two laps I sit in 14th, but at the end I sit 24th.  I don’t know how that happened because I don’t think that I died, but I guess other people just picked it up more than me.  In all I think it was a solid day, and a fairly accurate representation of my ability.  Now the trick for next year is to increase my ability.

I have a few more photos from the mens race added to my germany photos page here.

Also, congratulations to Simi Hamilton!  He was named to the olympic team last night, and everyone on the trip is really stoked for him.
